ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Sunday called upon Pakistan and other Muslim countries to formulate a joint strategy against the brutalities being perpetrated against Muslims elsewhere in the world, particularly the Rohingya community in Myanmar.
“In the prevailing situation in Myanmar, Pakistan should play a leading role and host in Islamabad a conference of Muslim countries to formulate a joint strategy to protect Muslims from oppression,” he said.
The JI leader was addressing a big demonstration here at D Chowk. A large number of women, children and members of minorities also participated in the demonstration. Earlier, the JI activists led by JI Central Naib Ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam, Punjab ameer Dr. Wasim Akhtar, local leaders Zubair Farooq Khan and Shamsur Rehman Swati and others led protest rallies from Liaquat Bagh and Aabpara Chowk to ‘D Chowk’.
The protesters carrying banners and placards were raising slogans against the brutalities on Muslims of Myanmar and victimisation of Islamist leaders of Bangladesh and Egypt.
Sirajul Haq during his address questioned the silence of human rights champions, international community and the UN in case of unprecedented and untold brutalities and massacre of Muslim community. He observed that the international community has been committing criminal negligence to the plight of Rohingya Muslims. He said the Government of Bangladesh which was not allowing displaced Rohingya Muslims inside its country, was also equally involved in the crime.
