PARACHINAR/KOHAT: Regional Police Officer (RPO), Kohat range, Abbas Majid Marwat visited Kurram district to assess ongoing counter-terrorism operations, review security arrangements at the Pak-Afghan border and oversee the reopening of the Kohat-Parachinar Road.

Speaking to the media, the RPO said that the public cooperation was crucial to eliminating terrorism from the region. He disclosed that nearly a thousand militant bunkers have been dismantled so far, with large quantities of weapons recovered. “Several terrorists have been killed, and many high-profile suspects have been apprehended during the operations,” he added.

The RPO, accompanied by DPO Kurram Ahmed Shah and PSO Razi Gul Khan, visited key security installations including the Kharlachi Zero Point at the Pak-Afghan border. He inspected under-construction road protection check posts at Ahmadzai Chowk and the Parachinar bypass, instructing contractors to accelerate their work.

In addition, he conducted detailed inspections at various police stations including Agra, Sadda and Samir, as well as the Sadda police lines. During these visits, he reviewed official records, arms depots, and residential barracks. He also left comments in the official visitor’s register, praising the efforts of the personnel.

RPO Marwat urged officers to remain vigilant and to consistently use protective equipment while on duty. He also directed officers to monitor suspicious movements closely, especially in sensitive border areas such as Gowy and Piewar.

At Police Station Piewar, he conducted a thorough inspection of the lockup, offices, and critical departments, stressing the importance of respectful treatment of citizens and ensuring justice, particularly for the vulnerable.

In recognition of outstanding service, he distributed cash rewards among police personnel and encouraged the promotion of community-friendly policing.
