Poppy crop destroyed in Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: The police and district administration destroyed poppy crops on 55 kanals of land in Ghulam Khan tehsil in North Waziristan in a week-long crackdown against poppy cultivation.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Miranshah, Shah Wali Khan.Personnel from the district administration and police targeted the areas of Dewgar and Loli Faqiran Syedgi, where 40 kanals of poppy crop were destroyed.

A few days ago, a similar operation in the same region resulted in the destruction of 15 kanals of cultivated poppy. According to the assistant commissioner, a total of 55 kanals had been cleared of poppy crops during the past week.The district administration vowed to continue action against poppy cultivation in adjoining areas, stating that all remaining crops would be eradicated as part of the ongoing drive.
