PMDC clears registration backlog
Islamabad:The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has announced the successful resolution of a significant number of cases regarding teaching experience, postgraduate registration, good standing, foreign local verification and registration certificates.
A year ago, the PMDC faced substantial backlog issues due to manual operations, but they're significantly addressed through the launch of state-of-the-art online portals to the relief of medical and dental practitioners.
The portals were designed to streamline the registration and documentation processes, effectively addressing the obstacles to smooth certificate issuance, according to PMDC president Prof Rizwan Taj.
He said the upgraded system had reflected an enhancement in administrative efficiency while eliminating loopholes and bolstering functionality. He said digital transformation, especially the launch of online portals led to the speedy disposal of cases.
According to him, the PMDC received 120,391 applications for teaching experience, postgraduate registration, good standing, foreign local verification and registration certificates in the last one year. Of them, 117,824 have been disposed of, with only 400-500 cases pending mainly due to third-party verifications.
He said the PMDC received 19,109 applications for full licences in the last one year and action was taken on 19,101 of them. Also, 17,693 provisional registration licences were submitted for verification and 17,500 of them have been cleared. Prof Taj said the launch of online portals had streamlined processes by simplifying case submissions and ensuring faster reviews and resolutions.
