PPP an ally of PMLN but won’t remain silent spectator: governor

LAHORE:"PPP is an ally of the PMLN, but it will not remain a silent spectator" said the Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan while welcoming PMLN workers from Okara in the PPP fold at Governor’s House on Tuesday.

A group of PMLN workers from district Okara announced to join PPP after meeting Governor Punjab. This is noteworthy that PPP also announced to participate in the by-elections against PMLN from PP-52, Sialkot, the seat vacated due to the death of PMLN MPA

After canal controversy, the terms between the two allies seem to have severed and heated words are also being exchanged between PMLN and PPP ministers from Punjab and Sindh respectively. However, at the same time, the Coordination Committee of both the parties have held five sittings so far and the senior leaders, in their statements issued to media have shown agreement of continuing the coalition.

The governor, who hails from Attock and has also been an elected MNA and Minister between 2008 to 2013, seems active in mobilising the party these days. "I will continue to raise my voice for the development of the people of the province and the provision of basic facilities to them" said the Governor Punjab while talking to PPP workers. "PPP will become stronger and more stable in the province," he said.

He said that the PPP will participate fully in the by-elections to be held in Sialkot. The governor said that the people of Punjab are expressing confidence in the PPP and Bilawal Bhutto. He said that the PPP would give a 'tough' time to the opponents in the by-elections in Sialkot. The governor expressed the hope that the election of Sialkot PP-52 would lead to the revival of the PPP.

He said that it is a great joy for us that our business community, farmers, labourers and the young generation are joining the PPP. The governor said that Bilawal Bhutto would soon give guidelines to the party leaders in the PP-52 elections.

He said that the party leaders and workers should prepare fully for the elections. He said that as long as he is present in the Governor’s House, the party workers should not consider themselves alone.
