Five killed in Quetta violence
243 suspects arrested in search operation

QUETTA: Five persons were killed in separate incidents of violence here on Saturday.
Two persons were killed when unidentified militants opened fire on a barber shop in the Mano Jan area of the city.
Police sources said two masked assailants opened fire on a barber shop in the city’s Mano Jan area and killed two persons. Both of the victims were brothers. The attackers escaped unhurt from the spot, the source added. Security and emergency teams reached the site of the attack. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Quetta for medico-legal formalities.
In another incident, two persons were shot dead by unidentified attackers in the Double Road area. A huge contingent of security personnel reached the site after the attacks and cordoned off the area and started probe. There was yet another incident in which a person was gunned down near the Eastern Bypass. Police officials termed the incidents acts of targeted killing. These incidents occurred two days after the militants killed four policemen in Quetta’s Pashtoonabad area.
Meanwhile, police and other law- enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown against target killers in the provincial capital and conducted several raids in Pashtoonabad, Mahmoodabad and other areas during which 243 suspects were arrested.
The detained men were shifted to some undisclosed location for interrogation. Police also claimed the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the arrested men.
