Marathon race planned to raise awareness about Thalassemia
LAHORE:A delegation of Sundas Foundation called on DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry at National Hockey Stadium on Monday. The holding of marathon event to raise awareness about Thalassemia was discussed in detail during the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Khizar Afzaal said that Sports Board Punjab will extend every possible assistance for the befitting organisation of proposed marathon race. “We are quite upbeat that this marathon race will play a key role in enhancing awareness about Thalassemia disease”.
He said that Sundas Foundation can conduct Blood Donation Camp in Sports Board Punjab for the awareness of Thalassemia. “More than 300 employees and officials of the Punjab Sports Department will donate blood in the Blood Donation Camp”.
He further said that the prime objective of Sports Board Punjab is to identify and nurture fresh talent from across the province. “Sports Board Punjab is also awarding scholarships to top performing athletes from Sports Endowment Fund,” he informed.
The Sundas Foundation delegation was comprised of President Sundas Foundation M Yaseen Khan, COO Abdus Sattar and Sports Coordinator Iftikhar Elahi. Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum were also present on this occasion.
