Wasa orders covering open manhole
LAHORE:Acting DG Wasa Punjab Ghufran Ahmed Monday ordered rectification of missing manhole covers and other civic problems. Chairing an online meeting, the acting DG reviewed the progress of Wasa Punjab’s complaint management system, missing manhole covers and other civic issues.
MDs WASA of Gujranwala, Multan, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad also briefed the Acting DG, who directed all officers to conduct a special survey on missing manhole covers on a daily basis.
He sought certificates from all SDOs daily in this regard and said a zero tolerance policy would be adopted regarding missing manhole covers. The acting DG warned disciplinary action against officers concerned of the areas from where manhole covers were found missing. The DG ordered FIRs against manhole cover thieves and a grand public awareness campaign regarding missing manhole covers.
He also instructed to make the complaint management system more effective across Punjab and ensure prompt redressal of citizens' complaints and to speed up the recovery of Aquifer bills across Punjab. He said provision of the best civic facilities under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister was the top priority of Wasa.
