Eight die in road accidents in 24 hours
LAHORE:Punjab witnessed a staggering 1,416 road accidents in the past 24 hours, resulting in eight fatalities and 1,728 injuries.
According to Rescue 1122 data released on Sunday, the provincial emergency service reported that 737 critically injured victims were provided first aid before being rushed to hospitals, while 1,728 individuals—1,386 men and 342 women—suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Lahore remained the most dangerous city for commuters, recording 263 accidents—the highest in Punjab. Faisalabad followed with 96 incidents, while Multan reported 94 accidents. In the provincial capital alone, 358 people were injured in traffic mishaps, with 122 severe cases requiring immediate hospitalisation and 236 minor injuries treated on-site by Rescue teams. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmad emphasised the need for stricter traffic enforcement and public awareness to curb rising accidents.
