SC clubs plea against Punjab ex-governor, with case against Imran
A three-member bench of apex court, headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, heard appeal
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday clubbed the appeal filed by the Government of Punjab for the physical remand of PTI-era Governor of Punjab Umar Sarfraz Cheema with a similar case against Imran Khan in connection with the May 9 incidents.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, heard the appeal. The court ordered that Umar Sarfraz Cheema’s case be clubbed with a similar case against Imran Khan. The Chief Justice remarked that the hearing of this case will now be conducted alongside the request for Imran Khan’s physical remand next week. “We want consistency in the decisions related to physical remand,” the CJP added and adjourned the hearing until April 24.
Likewise, the said the bench disposed of as withdrawn, the bail request of accused Raza Ali, involved in a criminal case related to the May 9, 2023 arson and rioting.
