Four stranded tourists rescued in Siran valley

MANSEHRA: Four tourists who had been stranded in the Mundi Top area of Siran valley due to severe weather were successfully rescued in the early hours of Thursday, according to local authorities.

“Our team has rescued all four stranded tourists after receiving an emergency call,” Amir Khadam of Rescue 1122 told reporters.The tourists, including Raja Uzair, Muhammad Talha, Muhammad Saad Asif, and Zarab Khan, all from Wah Cantt, had set out on an adventurous trip to Doga Top on foot from the Mundi area of Siran valley.

“The hail and windstorms that hit the valley on Wednesday evening wreaked havoc, uprooting trees and damaging slum and wooden houses. The visitors were left stranded in the high mountains,” Khadam added. He said the rescue team, equipped with all necessary gear, travelled by vehicle as far as possible and then proceeded on foot for many hours to reach the stranded tourists. “We provided them with emergency treatment, and the one who sustained minor injuries was shifted to a nearby health facility,” he said, adding, the rescued tourists lauded the sincere efforts and professionalism of the rescue team members.

Meanwhile, Mansehra police claimed to have seized a huge cache of narcotics being smuggled from Peshawar to here.A press release issued here said a police team raided a house in Mungan Machipol area and seized over 10 kg of chars and 660 grams of Heroin, arresting narcotics peddlers.
