BISHAM/ALPURI: The district administration of Shangla has imposed a ban on swimming in the river under Section 144 in the wake of repeated drowning incidents in the River Indus.
A notification, issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner Shangla, Muhammad Fawad Khan, warned residents across all areas within the district’s jurisdiction along the River Indus, particularly in Bisham, to refrain from swimming and to strictly monitor children near the riverbanks.
Parents have been explicitly warned to keep their children away from the river. In the event that minors are found violating the ban, their guardians will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which may include imprisonment, fines, or both.
