Operation to be launched against illegal Afghan residents, militias in Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi:In light of the prevailing law and order situation in Rawalpindi and across the country, authorities have decided to launch a decisive operation against illegally residing Afghan nationals and criminal elements.
This decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi, Engineer Amir Khattak. The meeting was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Kanza Murtaza, along with senior administrative and police officers. Owners of private housing societies were also summoned to the meeting.
During the session, a strict ban was imposed on the deployment of illegal Afghan militia members in housing societies. Society owners were directed to immediately evict any illegal residents from their premises. The Commissioner made it clear that action will also be taken against those housing societies found employing private Afghan militia guards.
“In the current security climate, no concessions will be given to anyone,” Commissioner Amir Khattak asserted, urging housing society owners to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that the presence of armed individuals in offices or residential societies would not be tolerated, and any society involved in illegal activities would be blacklisted. It was further decided that licensed weapons would be checked, allowing only one licensed weapon per individual. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani announced that a comprehensive crackdown would be carried out against criminals and illegal arms holders.
