Robbed of safety
Last week, as I returned from Karachi University, I took a rickshaw, as I usually do. It was 5pm, and the road near my home was bustling, as it typically is at that hour. Out of the blue, two men on a motorcycle showed up unexpectedly. One of them aimed a firearm at me and asked for my phone. After robbing me, the men took off in an instant, leaving me bewildered.
Regrettably, this tale is quite commonplace. Anyone residing in Karachi will have a comparable experience. As a result, people try and leave their valuables at home and avoid using their phones while outside. As a student, I should concentrate on my studies instead of being concerned about my safety. The most difficult aspect is the consequences that come afterward. Many of us no longer report these occurrences. Wherever we travel, the shadow of street crime follows us. I urge the relevant authorities to ensure safety and rebuild trust in our communities.
