Upper South Waziristan: Senator wants Ladha declared as district HQ
TANK: Senator Dost Muhammad said on Monday that Ladha should be officially declared as the district headquarters of Upper South Waziristan.
Addressing a gathering, he added that the move would pave the way for the development and prosperity of the district.Several tribal elders from the Mehsud and Burki tribes, religious scholars, traders and the people attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Dost Muhammad said the district headquarters of Upper South Waziristan had been based in Tank, which hindered progress in the region. “We have now asked the government to shift the district headquarters from Tank to Ladha,” he said.
He added that Sararogha had been granted the status of a division, while Kaniguram had been upgraded to a tehsil-long-standing demands of the local communities. The senator emphasized that while some tribal elders opposed the relocation of the district headquarters, the decision would not be changed. “We respect their views, but the headquarters will remain in Ladha,” he stated.
He also assured that the government would not interfere in the selection of land for divisional offices in Sararogha, allowing local people to decide their preferred locations. The senator said efforts were ongoing to promote and preserve the Burki tribe’s language and culture, including the publication of literature and other materials.
