It is deeply concerning to see a rising number of cats and dogs with collars wandering the streets. These animals, clearly once kept as pets, are now struggling to survive in an environment they are not adapted to. Unlike strays, pet animals are accustomed to being fed at home and often lack the survival instincts needed to find food and shelter on their own. More disturbingly, there have been reports of pet cats being abandoned in shopping bags, some of which are tied shut. In such tragic cases, the animals are unable to free themselves and die slowly from starvation and exhaustion – a fate no living being deserves.
In situations where pet owners genuinely find themselves unable to continue providing care, abandoning their animals on the streets should never be considered an option. Instead, every effort should be made to surrender these animals to reputable animal shelters or rescue organisations. These facilities are better equipped to provide the necessary care, food, and medical attention, and can work towards finding them new, loving homes.
