The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) on Saturday successfully completed emergency repairs on a major 84-inch diameter trunk pipeline in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth, Safoora Goth, restoring water supply to several areas of the city well ahead of schedule.
In a statement issued, the corporation revealed that the Water Trunk Main (WTM) team completed the repair work — initially expected to take 96 hours — in just 60 hours. KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui commended the swift and dedicated efforts of Chief Engineer Zafar Palejo and the WTM team, calling the achievement a reflection of the corporation’s growing operational efficiency.
The pipeline had been leaking for some time, prompting a comprehensive repair operation that began on Thursday. Officials said that teams worked around the clock in shifts to minimise disruption and speed up restoration. The timely completion of the repairs was expected to ease water shortages and improve supply pressure in several affected neighbourhoods across Karachi.
This operation was part of the KWSC’s broader initiative to upgrade the city’s aging water infrastructure and enhance service delivery for residents.
