PPL, Metso ink strategic pact to boost mineral exploration
KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Finland’s Metso Corporation -- a global leader in sustainable technologies and services for the minerals processing industry -- have entered into a strategic collaboration to advance mineral exploration and processing across Pakistan.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was exchanged in the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir. The MoU was signed by Managing Director and CEO of PPL Imran Abbasy and Director Sales Smelting Business Line at Metso Corporation Lauri Pesonen.
According to a statement from PPL, the MoU was initially signed during the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025, held in Islamabad and attended by senior government officials, diplomats and industry leaders.
The partnership marks a major step towards transforming Pakistan’s mineral sector through the adoption of advanced exploration tools, efficient extraction technologies, and integrated value-added processing solutions.
“This collaboration with Metso signals a bold leap toward harnessing Pakistan’s untapped mineral wealth using world-class technology and expertise,” said Abbasy. “Together, we aim to foster sustainable development while maximising national resource potential.”
