MARDAN: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan Chairman Prof Jehanzeb Khan on Friday said that efforts were being made to reform the examination system but the powerful mafia was creating hurdles for them. Talking to reporters here, he said that he had no personal agenda but was trying to bring about reforms in the examination system.
He said that after doing away with the private school halls and not fulfilling the interests of some people in the current examination, a power mafia had started criticizing him on social media.
Prof Jehanzeb added that despite all this he would continue his struggle. He said that he had told the invigilators that strict action would be taken against them if the papers were leaked. “All students are equal and everyone will be treated the same way,” he added.
He said that the chief minister, education minister, and other officials were in favour of reforms in the board. He said that the same teachers who teach the subject would check the papers. He said that millions of rupees were spent on open inspection, which was of no use, so it had been stopped.
Prof Jehanzeb argued that duties had been stopped in the choice centres. He said that a list of teachers for duty in the examination was asked from the District Education Officers along with the list from the provincial directorate.
He said that in the future, they would bring more transparency in assigning examination duties. He said that he himself was visiting the examination halls. He said that the media and civil society should support him.
