PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday extended the protective bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Dr Khurshid Iqbal heard the case. During the hearing, Jhagra’s counsel, Advocate Ali Gohar Durrani, informed the court that his client had received a notice over a social media post asking him to appear before the joint investigation team (JIT).
Justice Syed Arshad Ali inquired about Jhagra’s current whereabouts. The lawyer responded that Jhagra is currently abroad and is scheduled to return to Pakistan in two days. He further requested the court to grant protective bail to prevent his arrest at the airport upon arrival.
The court accepted the plea, extended Jhagra’s protective bail and directed the relevant authorities not to arrest him.
