Husband, ‘blackmailer’ arrested after female constable’s body found at home
Officer says post-mortem examination report would ascertain whether or not it was a suicide case
HYDERABAD: Following the discovery of the hanging body of female constable Mahwish Jarwar, who was posted at the Mirpurkhas Jail, in her residential quarter on Wednesday evening, police have arrested two suspects, including the deceased woman’s husband, in connection with the case.
According to the Satellite Town SHO, Mahwish had gone off duty. The officer said the post-mortem examination report would ascertain whether or not it was a suicide case.
When the body was shifted to a Mirpurkhas hospital for post-mortem, Mahwish's mother Yasmeen Jarwar protested stating that she was made to wait for four hours to see her daughter’s body.
The mother told the media that her daughter was being blackmailed by a policeman named Yusuf Khoso. She added that Mahwish’s husband would not work and lived on his wife’s money.
After the post-mortem, the woman’s body was handed over to her family.
She was laid to rest on Thursday in a local graveyard after her funeral prayers were offered in her native village near Digri tehsil in Mirpurkhas.
According to the initial post-mortem report, there were signs of torture and strangulation on the female constable’s body. The initial report suggests that Mahwish was strangled and then her body was hung with a rope.
A murder case has been registered at the Satellite Town police station under the Section 302 on a complaint filed by her mother.
The accused nominated in the FIR include Mahwish’s husband and Khoso, both of whom have been arrested.
