Abbottabad tax office surpasses collection target
ABBOTTABAD: The Abbottabad Regional Tax Office (RTO) has surpassed its tax collection target, showcasing a 30 percent growth in the third quarter compared to the same period in 2024, said an official on Thursday. This achievement has earned the office the title of “Best Performing RTO” by the Federal Board of Revenue.
This was stated by Chief Commissioner Farhat Qayyum, who praised the staff and officers for their performance, awarding commendation certificates and shields to retired staff members during a ceremony attended by regional tax office staff from Haripur, Mansehra, and Abbottabad, as well as senior officials, on Thursday.
While briefing the media earlier, the chief commissioner stated that tax collection growth had increased by 30 percent in the third quarter, exceeding the target and outperforming the 17 percent growth seen in 2024.
She said Rs18.100 million was collected up to the third quarter, compared to Rs13.600 million in the corresponding period of 2024.Up to 96 percent of the target set for the financial year ending June 30, 2025, has already been achieved, she informed. The Abbottabad RTO attributed its success to several initiatives, including the recovery campaign. A two-month recovery campaign involving door-to-door contact with taxpayers, focusing on collecting income and sales taxes without causing harassment.
The establishment of facilitation desks to assist the business community
and broaden the tax net worked well.Initiatives to remove misconceptions about tax offices and foster a taxpayer-friendly atmosphere raised awareness. The official said this achievement demonstrated the Abbottabad RTO’s commitment to efficient tax collection and its dedication to improving the taxpayer experience.
