Mobile company tower torched in Waziristan
WANA: Unidentified people torched a mobile company tower Wednesday night in the Karikot area of Lower South Waziristan.
The incident occurred under the cover of darkness at Shaheed Mor, where armed men targeted the critical telecom infrastructure, causing severe disruption to mobile network services across Karikot and its surrounding areas.
The tower’s entire machinery was destroyed in the blaze, severing mobile connectivity and leaving thousands of residents cut off from vital communication. The incident triggered a wave of condemnation from political figures and the general public alike, who denounced the attack as both cowardly and a direct violation of the community’s right to stay connected.
Imran Mukhlis Wazir, District General Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party for Lower South Waziristan, condemned the attack in a statement posted on social media, calling it an act of terrorism. He urged the government to take swift action and ensure the immediate restoration of services.
