SNGPL official tortured outside home
PESHAWAR: An officer of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) was tortured by almost a dozen people outside his house on Grand Trunk Road in the limits of Chamkani Police Station.
The officials of the SNGPL said that after many days of the incident, no attacker could be arrested despite the fact that they could be identified easily from the CCTV footage.
The CCTV footage showed a man coming to the house of SNGPL Billing Officer, Yawar Abbas. When the officer came out to see him, almost a dozen people hiding in the streets attacked him. He was tortured by the attackers for several minutes which can be seen in the CCTV. The attackers managed to escape. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment.
“We have taken up the issue with the police. No one has been arrested so far,” said a senior official. He said this lawlessness needed to be checked and all the culprits should be brought to justice. Yawar is son of a former candidate for the National Assembly Zulfiqar Afghani, who is the head of the workers union of the SNGPL.
