PTI Tiger Group announces boycott of Alvi’s address in New York
Reason for boycott is said to be Shahbaz Gul’s participation and other speakers
NEW YORK: The news of revelations about the visit of a delegation of Pakistani businessmen and doctors from the United States to Pakistan for a meeting and release of the PTI founder has further increased the tension, differences and mutual bitterness among party supporters in the country.
The situation has worsened to such an extent that as soon as former President Dr. Alvi’s arrival in New York on April 11 and address a gathering was announced, the “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf New York Tigers” announced its boycott. The reason for the boycott is said to be Shahbaz Gul’s participation and other speakers.
Former President Dr Arif Alvi, Shahbaz Gul, former Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri and PTI America Chief Sajjad Barki are scheduled to address on April 11. When contacted, Sajjad Barki said he would not attend the gathering in New York. He also strongly denied that he and Atif Khan were part of a delegation of businessmen and doctors who had left the US for the release and a meeting with the PTI founder. He also categorically rubbished reports that the delegation had a meeting with the PTI founder in jail. The unsuccessful return of this delegation has damaged the party’s reputation and activities.
