Lawyer escapes attempt on life in Malir
A senior lawyer escaped a murderous attack in the Quidabad area of District Malir late on Monday night. Senior lawyer and prosecutor Advocate Malik Mazhar Hussain was fired upon by unidentified assailants, just a few feet away from the Malir SP and traffic SSP offices. Luckily, he survived the attack.
A case has been registered at the Shah Latif police station. According to the FIR, the lawyer had arrived at his flat in Block 30 of the Pakistan Housing Authority complex. As he approached his flat, two assailants attempted to stop him by calling out his name. When their attempt failed, they opened indiscriminate fire. Advocate Hussain, in a split second, jumped into his flat, causing him to fall, but miraculously he was unharmed.
Several bullets struck the door of his flat. Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting, and a large crowd of residents gathered due to the sound of gunfire. No arrests had been made till the filing of this report on Tuesday.
