PTI panel halts proceedings against Jhagra

PESHAWAR: In a dramatic development, the PTI’s Internal Accountability Committee (IAC) has halted further proceedings against former health and finance minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra.

The case has been closed for now when Taimur expressed strong distrust towards the three-member committee that was examining his actions and leveled serious allegations against the committee members, calling the committee biased and claiming that it intends to harm him politically.

Credible sources confirmed that the committee summoned around 12 ministers in connection with complaints of irregularities, corruption, and charges of corruption. “A member of the committee told this correspondent that strict action was taken against the 12 ministers and they were told to correct their mistakes and irregularities. They acted according to the law and the allegations were withdrawn. Some ministers were also changed based on complaints.”

He said that this committee was established by the founder and it reports to Imran Khan.

A credible source stated that this decision was taken when Taimur, in his response to the committee, expressed his displeasure and leveled serious allegations regarding the matter.

Initially, Taimur was informed of the committee’s decision and he thanked the committee for the way the matter was handled internally. However, within two days, he leaked a secret document on social media, which triggered a malicious campaign against the Internal Accountability Committee.

Adviser to the Chief Minister, Brigadier (R) Musaddiq Abbasi, confirmed that the investigation was immediately suspended following Taimur’s reaction, as he expressed distrust in the committee members and leveled severe allegations.

In light of this development, the IAC has decided to refer the matter to PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, for a final decision.

Brigadier Musaddiq said that PTI has a culture of internal accountability and Imran Khan has always been involved in monitoring the process of his government. He further said that Taimur Jhagra’s reaction to malign the committee was unacceptable and unnecessary.
