Sports dept, TSGPA to promote traditional games

LAHORE:Punjab Sports Department and Traditional Sports and Games Pakistan Association (TSGPA) will collaborate for the promotion of traditional games across the Punjab province.

In this regard, a delegation of TSGPA called on DG Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry at National Hockey Stadium on Monday. The restoration of traditional sports and organisation of the 1st Punjab Traditional Games 2025 was discussed in detail during the meeting. Patron of TSGPA Brig (retd) Azam Afandi, former Mayor Lahore Col (retd) Mubasher Javed, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, President, TSGPA Nawab Furqan Khan, President, Pakistan Horse and Mounted Archery Federation Aurangzeb Mubasher, Malik Shahbaz and General Secretary, Pakistan Desi Wrestling Federation Sajjad Awan were part of TSGPA delegation.

Talking on this occasion, DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal said that the traditional games are the real identity of Punjab and the Punjab Sports Department is always working to promote traditional sports among the younger generation. “Sports Board Punjab is taking effective measures to develop traditional sports, especially kabaddi, wrestling, tent-pegging, shooting volleyball etc. These games will be further developed in collaboration with TSGPA”.

He said the organisation of the 1st Punjab Traditional Games 2025 will help a lot in promoting the traditional sports and strengthening their identity globally. “Sports Board Punjab will extend every possible facility for the successful organisation of the 1st Punjab Traditional Games”. Khizar said that every possible measure will be taken for the true revival of traditional sports across the province.
