Governor lauds BISP’s role in poverty alleviation
LAHORE:Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has said Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is playing a positive role in poverty alleviation in Pakistan. The employees of BISP performed their duties in difficult circumstances with hard work, dedication and responsibility.
He expressed these views while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected presidents and cabinet of the All Pakistan BISP Employees Welfare Association and Officers Association. According to the details, the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected presidents and cabinet of the All Pakistan BISP Employees Welfare Association and BISP Officers Association organised by the Benazir Income Support Programme was held at the BISP head office in Islamabad.
The governor attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Chairpersons BISP Senator Rubina Khalid presided over the oath taking ceremony. Governor Sardar Saleem Haider congratulated the newly elected members on winning the elections through a democratic process. Addressing the ceremony, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that BISP is playing a positive role in poverty alleviation in Pakistan. After assuming the office Senator Rubina Khalid as Chairperson, the institution has successfully embarked on a journey of development.
The BISP programme is playing an important role in providing economic assistance to the oppressed class and poverty alleviation. On the instruction of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, a new banking model was introduced so that the money could be paid to the deserving women in a dignified and transparent manner. At the end of the ceremony, Senator Rubina Khalid presented a shield to Sardar Saleem Haider Khan.
