NC finally set to hold PFF elections on May 20
ISLAMABAD: The long overdue elections of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) will be completed on May 20, when the elected body will take over the reins of the PFF.
Following six years of imposition of ad-hoc Normalization Committee (NC) that saw four chairmen changing hands, the PFF elections schedule has been finally unveiled on Sunday according to which PFF’s presidential elections will be conducted on May 20.
“As was promised we are all set to hold PFF elections with the final voting to be conducted on May 20. We are thankful to all including the FIFA and AFC for reposing trust in the NC headed by Saud Hashmi. Our effort is to hand over the reins to the elected body as soon as possible under the laid-down rules,” Shahid Khokhar, who acts as the secretary NC, said.
According to the schedule, interested candidates (according to the changed constitution) can submit their candidatures from April 7-16.
“In accordance with article 32.5 of the 2025 edition of the PFF Amended Constitution, we hereby inform the PFF members as well as the candidates of the PFF Executive Committee elections, of the detailed electoral schedule which shall begin from 7th April 2025 and which shall conclude on 20 May 2025,” PFF in its handout says. The elections will be conducted at Crystal Ballroom B, Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore on May 20.
Interested candidates are required to submit applications for PFF Executive Committee positions to the General Secretariat of the PFF for consideration and scrutiny by the Electoral Committee.
All candidates must abide by the submission requirements as detailed in the PFF Amended Constitution and the 2025 edition of the PFF Electoral Regulations. “Candidates will be given an opportunity for further review in the event that their candidacy is not accepted. FIFA and the AFC will be consulted for guidance and advice during the scrutiny and review process.
After the review period, the final decision of the Electoral Committee may only be referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in accordance with the provisions of the PFF Amended Constitution,” the PFF official said. As per the PFF Constitution, an Arbitrator is a must to decide on appeals of those candidates whose plea would be rejected.
Article 68 of arbitration says: “The PFF Statutes shall provide an independent and duly convened national arbitration tribunal to deal with all national disputes against final decisions of the PFF when all the internal channels have been exhausted.”
Complete Schedule: Submission of candidatures: 7-23 April (7 days); Appeals and Review Submissions: 24-27 April (4 days); Decisions on Review Submissions: 28-29 April (2 days); Official list of candidates for elections: 30 April; Campaigning period: 1-19 May (19 days); PFF Elective Congress: 20 May.
