Star-studded commentary panel unveiled for PSL X
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a stellar commentary lineup for the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) X, promising fans an exceptional broadcasting experience.
The six-team tournament, scheduled to run from April 11 to May 18, will feature matches in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, with the grand final set to take place at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium.
Making their commentary debut in the league are former England Test captain Sir Alastair Cook, renowned cricket broadcaster and former MCC President Mark Nicholas, and Australia’s celebrated ICC Women’s World Cup winner Lisa Sthalekar. They will be joined by other notable voices including South Africa’s Jean-Paul Duminy, Mike Haysman, England’s Dominic Cork and Mark Butcher, Bangladesh’s Athar Ali Khan, and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill.
Representing Pakistan on the commentary panel are former Test captains Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja, and Aamir Sohail — all widely regarded as legends of the game. They will collaborate with cricket analyst Sikander Bakht, former Test player Bazid Khan, and former Pakistan women’s team captain Urooj Mumtaz, ensuring insightful and dynamic coverage throughout the tournament.
In a groundbreaking move, this season will introduce a full match broadcast entirely in Urdu commentary for the first time in HBL PSL history. The Urdu commentary team, comprising Ali Younis, Aqeel Samar, Marina Iqbal, Salman Butt, and Tariq Saeed, will join Pakistan’s commentators during selected segments, aiming to create a more inclusive experience for local fans.
Hosting the league matches will be Erin Holland and Zainab Abbas, adding further appeal to the broadcast team. PCB’s Chief Executive Officer, Salman Naseer, expressed his excitement for this year’s innovations: “We are proud to assemble a commentary team featuring some of the most iconic names in cricket. Their presence underscores the global stature of HBL PSL.
