Mayor launches biogas pilot project
In a significant step towards alternative energy solutions, a biogas pilot project initiated under Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab's directives has achieved success.
Based in Ibrahim Hyderi, the project produces biogas using kitchen and organic waste from cattle. The biogas generated is now being utilised for cooking, heating, and other energy needs, showcasing its potential as a sustainable energy alternative.
Mayor Wahab visited the Ibrahim Hyderi plant on Saturday to inspect the biogas production process and was briefed by project officials. He expressed satisfaction over the progress and instructed the authorities to accelerate the work.
He said that the use of biogas not only promotes clean energy but also offers an efficient way to manage organic waste in the city. He emphasised that such initiatives could help reduce Karachi’s dependence on conventional energy sources while addressing waste management issues.
This development is being welcomed as another positive step for Karachi, paving the way for cleaner, greener, and more sustainable urban living.
