97 nurses posted at LGH
LAHORE : Principal of Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof Al-Fareed Zafar has said that the Department of Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education has appointed 97 nurses selected by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to Lahore General Hospital (LGH).
Prof Al-Fareed Zafar while addressing the nurses at a ceremony said that the appointment of these nurses in various departments of the hospital will significantly enhance the hospital’s workforce and healthcare services of the patients.
MS LGH Dr Faryad Hussain, Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent (DCNS) Fazilat Lal and a large number of nurses were also present on this occasion. Prof Al-Fareed Zafar congratulated the newly appointed nurses and asked them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge which were gained during training.
Prof Al-Fareed Zafar emphasised that they should leave no stone unturned in providing the best possible care to patients using their professional expertise to serve patients and earn their blessings.
In his interaction with the media, Principal Prof. Al-Fareed Zafar praised the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab for the development of the health sector, improving hospital operations and ensuring better healthcare services for patients.
He stated that the Chief Minister along with Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and their team is working relentlessly to implement this vision providing great encouragement to healthcare providers. He added that the administration of Lahore General Hospital is fulfilling its duties in line with Government policy, ensuring the best possible medical care and services to patients. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics play a crucial role and without their cooperation, healthcare professionals cannot provide adequate treatment and care.
Prof Al-Fareed Zafar concluded by highlighting that nurses play a pivotal role as the backbone of healthcare as ward management and patient care largely depend on them.
MS LGH mentioned that the newly appointed nurses would receive special lectures on discipline, completing medical charts, ward management, understanding the Healthcare Commission's SOPs, awareness of seasonal and communicable diseases like dengue and maintaining courteous behavior with patients and their families. These measures will help further enhance their professional skills, ensuring they face no difficulties during their duties, he added.
DCNS Fazilat Lal welcomed the new nurses into the practical field and extended a detailed briefing about the working procedures at LGH. She assured them that the nursing in-charge sisters in all departments would provide full guidance to them, as well.
