Filling of vacant posts of teachers demanded

HARIPUR: The Tanzeem-i-Asatiza Pakistan (TAP) has demanded the provincial government to expedite the process of filling the vacant posts in the government schools before the start of the academic session of 2025/26. The demand was made during the meeting of TAP which met with Dr Amir Atiq Sidiqi, president Haripur chapter, in the chair at Government Centennial Model Higher Secondary School for Boys No 1. TAP’s office-bearers discussed in detail the problems of teachers, new academic sessions and shortage of teachers, book distribution mechanism and assignment of examination duties to teachers.

The meeting through a resolution demanded that the new academic session was about to commence within days but there were hundreds of posts vacant in government schools which was detrimental to the progress of students and the education department itself.

They demanded expediting the process of departmental promotions and hiring of new teachers. The TAP’s body welcomed the measures ordered by the secretary education KP for checking the scourge of cheating and assured their support to the cause of eradication of cheating.

They demanded appointment on senior posts of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on merit for improved performance while the teachers’ duties on paper marking should also be made more transparent and merit-oriented so that the growing appeals for rechecking of their papers after every SSC and intermediate exams could be controlled.

The participants also expressed their concern over the delayed disbursement of arrears of conveyance allowance to the teachers by the district account office.
