Psychosocial camp arranged at City University

PESHAWAR: City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT), Peshawar, organized a psychosocial camp aimed at fostering peace and resilience among the support staff of the Peshawar Model Degree Colleges.

A press release said the initiative was conducted under the project Community Resilience Building for Countering Violent Extremism, funded by the European Union in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Authority and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The organisers said the psychosocial camp served as a platform for community engagement, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being and resilience in building a more harmonious society.

Overseen by CUSIT Vice Chancellor Dr Nasrullah Khan, the event was moderated by Amanullah. Dr Mohammad Haroon Khan, Project Lead and Director Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), provided a briefing on the project’s objectives and the significance of resilience-building within communities for societal development.

A counseling session was conducted by Dr Tuba Shahzadi, a psychologist and medical officer at the Department of Allied Health Sciences, CUSIT, who guided participants on mental well-being and coping mechanisms. The communication said Dr Aleena, Dr Ruqaya Hayat and other team members contributed to the event’s success.Gifts were distributed among the participants after the event.
