Dumping grounds

Vacant lots/locations in the Malir area of Karachi are increasingly being used as waste dumping grounds. The accumulating garbage dumps under the Quaidabad bridge and almost every empty plot create an unbearable stench. No one appears to be taking any steps to remove these dumps, though sometimes the waste is burnt, releasing toxic fumes.
This poses a serious health hazard. This problem is also not limited to the Malir area alone, with most of Karachi suffering from similar waste-management issues. The
authorities must start collecting and disposing of waste more effectively .
