For the second consecutive day, pre-dawn showers fell in Islamabad and adjoining areas on Tuesday to the pleasant surprise of the people getting up at sehar to keep the Ramazan fast.
At around 3 a.m. on Monday, there’s just a trace of rainfall but the city had a relatively good rain the same time next day.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the maximum rainfall recorded in Islamabad was 14 millimetres in Bokra area on the city’s northern outskirts followed by 12 mm in the downtown area, Zero Point, 5 in Golra to the city’s west, and 3 in Saidpur to the east.
The nearby hill station of Murree recorded 13 millimetres rainfall.
The showers turned the weather pleasant across the city and adjoining areas but the ensuing daytime remained hot, humid and dry stressing out those on the streets.
The Met Office has forecast a fresh spell of rain in Islamabad until Thursday.
“During the next 48 hours, thundershowers coupled with strong winds are expected to fall at isolated places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, DG Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan divisions, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The weather will remain hot and dry elsewhere in the country,” weatherman Muhammad Farooq said.
