CHARSADDA: Dozens of parents here on Thursday opposed the provincial government and the education board’s decision to shift private school examination centres to government schools.

Addressing a press conference, the parents, including Mushtaq Khan Tarangzai, Wali Muhammad, Tahseenullah Jan and Mian Raham Bacha, along with civil society members, criticized the move. They stated that the decision was taken in haste without considering the difficulties faced by students and their families.

They argued that many parents cannot arrange transport for their children to reach the examination halls in far-off government schools. They said that deploying security personnel inside examination halls would create psychological pressure on young students, especially girls.

The parents also accused bureaucrats of taking control of education boards, saying they would not accept this under any circumstances. They warned that if the decision was not reversed, they would take to the streets with their children in protest. The protesting parents urged the chief secretary and commissioner of the Peshawar Division to reconsider their decision.
