Over 52,000 cops perform security duties on Eid
LAHORE : Inspector General Police Punjab (IGP) offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at District Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, joined by retired and serving senior police officers and personnel.
Following the Eid prayers, IGP Punjab paid tribute at the Police Martyrs' Memorial, laying floral wreaths and reciting Fateha for the fallen heroes.
He emphasised that security across Lahore and Punjab remains on high alert during Eid, with over 52,000 police personnel deployed to ensure the safety of places of worship, key locations, and the general public. IGP extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the citizens of Lahore and the province, while also congratulating Punjab Police officers and personnel on the occasion.
Under his directives, police teams remained on high alert to ensure citizens' safety during Eid prayers.
Over 47,000 officers were deployed across Punjab, including 9,000 in Lahore, to secure more than 29,000 Eid congregations.
Special Branch, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and other security agencies maintained strict surveillance against potential threats, with heightened vigilance at interprovincial borders and riverine check posts. Continuous CCTV monitoring and patrolling by Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite teams ensured security at mosques, markets, and key locations.
