Man kills wife, nephew for ‘honour’

FAISALABAD: A man gunned down his wife and nephew for honour at Chak 438/GB, Samundri, on Tuesday.
Shahid Hussain doubted that his wife Riffat and nephew Muhammad Shahid had developed relations. On the day of the incident, Shahid Hussain allegedly shot his wife Riffat dead, but M Shahid escaped. The accused chased Shahid and shot him dead at a bus stop in Samundri. Police have arrested the accused and started investigation.
REPAIR OF ROADS: Commissioner Momin Agha has stressed the need for immediate repair of dilapidated roads, especially in industrial areas, to ensure safe and speedy movement of import and export consignments.
During his visit to the Faisalabad Garments City near Khurrianwala, he underlined the importance of import and export business in the national economy and said that the road connectivity was of prime importance for speedy movement of import and export consignments.
Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ch Muhammad Nawaz said that approximately 2km portion of Khurrianwala-Chak-Jhumra Bypass near Faisalabad Garment City was in bad shape for the last many years. The uneven road and pits were forcing the truck drivers to use an alternate city road, which was complicating traffic problems in the urban areas. He said that there were several industrial units on Jaranwala-Khurrianwala Bypass. Due to the movement of heavy traffic, the bypass was also facing deterioration, he added. The FCCI president said that a road linking Khurrianwala with Sahianwala via a mill was also in a shambles and waiting for repair for the last 12 years. He said that the area was actually export oriented and needed safe, speedy and reliable roads for speedy transportation of import and export consignments. He said that the foreign buyers regularly visited the area and the road had become a stigma on the face of Faisalabad. Faisalabad Garments City chairman Rehan Bharara and others were also present.
MAN DROWNS: A man drowned in a canal here. Muhammad Akbar of Chak 49/JB was standing along a canal when he slipped and fell into it. As a result, he drowned. A Rescue 1122 team recovered his body.
Man, son awarded death on two counts for double murder

FAISALABAD: Additional Sessions Judge Nasir Ali on Tuesday awarded death on two counts to Younis of Khurrianwala and his son Awais in a double murder case.
The prosecution said that the convicts had gunned down Azizur Rehman and his son Muhammad Suleman over a land dispute in 2015.
Man jailed for hoisting defunct outfit’s flag

FAISALABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court Special Judge Raja Pervaiz Akhtar on Tuesday awarded 3.6 years imprisonment and Rs 100,000 fine to Muhammad Rizwan in a case of hoisting the flag of a defunct outfit.
According to the prosecution, the convict had hoisted the flag of a defunct outfit on his house on May 20.
51 BOOKED: Mamoonkanjan police have registered a case against 51 people on the charges of attacking a house and torturing a family.
Iftikhar Ahmad reported to police that Liaqat Ali, Zulfiqar, Falak Sher and others allegedly attacked his house and tortured the family members.
MAN ARRESTED: People’s Colony police arrested the general manager of a departmental store for not hiring a security guard.
The general manager, Muhammad Sufian, was issued a number of warnings by the police but he did not hire a security guard for his departmental store.
SHO SUSPENDED: CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar has suspended Balochni SHO Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad on the charges of receiving bribe and poor performance.
The CPO also demoted Millat Town SHO Sub-Inspector Khalid Kalyar to the rank of ASI, besides demoting the Sargodha Road inspector to the rank of sub-inspector.
Landowner axed to death by brother

FAISALABAD: A landowner was killed over a land dispute at Chak 272/RB, Dijkot, on Tuesday.
Muhammad Altaf was allegedly axed to death by his brother Muhammad Afzal and his son Muhammad Boota. Dijkot police have registered a case and started investigation.
