PESHAWAR: The Alkhidmat Foundation on Wednesday arranged a ceremony to distribute Eidul Fitr among orphans, street children and those suffering from thalassemia.

The ceremony was held at the provincial headquarters of the foundation here with provincial president Khalid Waqas in the chair, while Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Central) President Abdul Wasi was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Waqas shared the foundation’s ongoing efforts in the region. He said that the foundation is currently supporting over 5,500 orphaned children across the province.

In addition, more than 850 street children, who collect discarded items from streets and workshops to help support their families are supported by the foundation.

Over 600 children suffering from thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder, have also been registered under the foundation’s care.

Waqas stated that during Ramazan, the foundation continued its efforts to provide support to the underprivileged segments of society with special emphasis on those in dire need of basic necessities.

Abdul Wasi, in his address, praised the initiative, calling the provision of life’s essential services to orphaned children, street children and those suffering from thalassemia a commendable effort.

He also acknowledged that Alkhidmat Foundation stands out as a leading organisation in the country for humanitarian work, which continues to be a source of pride for all.
