NOWSHERA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Sunday said that his party neither supported the government nor aligned with the opposition as it maintained an independent stance focused on serving the public.
He was talking to reporters in Nowshera, where he had gone to offer condolences to the family of senior journalist Mushtaq Paracha, who recently passed away.
He said that Mushtaq Paracha’s contributions to journalism would always be remembered.
Commenting on the prevailing political scenario in the country, Sherpao said he remained unaware of the objectives behind the opposition’s grand alliance.
He also expressed concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The province is facing a new wave of terrorism, and the southern districts have turned into no-go areas,” he stated. He urged both the opposition and the government to prioritize security and stability rather than engaging in political movements.
Sherpao emphasized that continued terrorism would prevent economic progress and urged the provincial government to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining law and order instead of becoming entangled in political conflicts.
He also called for unity among the province’s leadership to secure Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rights from the federal government and address the pressing issues faced by its people.
