Five killed in tribal clash in Kashmore

Members of both groups used automatic weapons against each other

SUKKUR: Five people were killed and several others received serious bullets wounds during an armed clash between the members of Bhutto and Bangwar tribes in Kashmore on Saturday.

The bloody clash between the members of Bangwar and Bhutto tribes took place in the jurisdiction of Badani Police Station, Kashmore over the collision of a motorcycle and a donkey cart. The deceased from Bhutto tribe were identified as Ashiq Bhutto and Amir Bhutto, while the deceased from Bangwar tribe included Raham Ali, Ghulam Shabbir and Ehsan Bangwar.

Members of both groups used automatic weapons against each other. After receiving the report of the deadly clash, heavy contingent of police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Further investigation into the incident was underway.

Journalist Ghulam Yasin Bhutto said that a minor dispute over the collision of a motorcycle and donkey cart in Bakshapur turned into the bloody conflict. He said the gunmen resorted to firing at each other, adding that the police were reluctant to go to the scene to stop the clash. He added that his cousins were also killed in the clash.

Kashmore-Kandhkot SSP Zubair Nazeer Ahmed Shaikh said the situation was under control and the dead and the injured were shifted to local hospitals. He said police picket was established to prevent further bloodshed.
