LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security arrangements on the Moon Night and Eidul-Fitr day.
“Ensure safety of women and children in markets at all costs,” the CM said. She directed to increase patrolling of women police squads in markets on the Moon Night.
She was briefed, “Additional personnel will be deployed at 65 commercial centers and drone cameras and night vision binoculars will be used for surveillance in markets and bazaars.”
She was also apprised, “Police personnel have been deployed at 55 places to prevent one-wheeling, while they have been deployed at 225 places around ATMs and banks to ensure safety and security of people.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed deputy commissioners to take all necessary measures to prevent transporters from charging excessive fares on Eid from commuters. She directed them to take strict legal action in this regard to ensure strict implementation of the prescribed fares in all districts.
The chief minister directed the Transport Department and other relevant authorities to display fare lists prominently at all bus stands, besides ensuring cleanliness.
She also directed them to ensure proper seating arrangements and fans in the waiting areas.
She directed them, “Assign field checking duties to provide relief to the public, as exploitation of passengers returning homes on the blissful occasion of Eid will not be tolerated.”
Meanwhile, the chief minister Punjab congratulated IG Punjab, RPO, DPO and the police team for foiling an attack by Khwarij terrorists on Lakhani check post in Taunsa.
She said, “Police personnel have given a befitting reply to the terrorists.”
