Man killed in highway gun attack
A 30-year-old man was shot and killed near Jamali Flyover on the Superhighway in the early hours of Saturday.
Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a hospital, where he was identified as Abid, son of Ramzan.
According to police, unknown suspects opened fire on the victim for reasons yet to be determined. However, the victim’s family claimed that the incident occurred during a robbery when Abid resisted.
In their statement to the police, the family said that Abid was traveling on his motorcycle after Sehri to visit a relative near the New Sabzi Mandi when he was intercepted by robbers. Upon resisting, he was shot and killed, while the suspects fled the scene.
The police confirmed that Abid's mobile phone and wallet were missing, further indicating a possible robbery. While initial findings suggested the motive was a mugging, authorities stated that other possibilities were also being investigated.
Abid, a father of three, was originally from Multan. The police launched an investigation into the case.
