The first meeting of the Karachi Beautification Task Force chaired by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has appointed supervisors to beautify and clean selected major roads in the city.
The meeting was held on Friday. The appointed supervisors include Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Metropolitan Commissioner Syed Afzal Zaidi for Sharea Faisal, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi for Shahrah-e-Quaideen, District Central Deputy Commissioner Taha Saleem for Sher Shah Suri Road, District East Deputy Commissioner Abrar Jafar for Shaheed Millat Road, KMC Parks Director General (DG) Ikhlaq Yousufzai for Karsaz Road, District South Deputy Commissioner Javed Nabi for Abdullah Haroon Road, and Traffic DIG Pir Muhammad Shah for II Chundrigar Road.
In the light of the rising number of traffic accidents in Karachi, the meeting also decided that all unregistered water tankers operating on roads would be impounded. Additionally, the KMC would impose fines for violations of traffic laws on these roads.
The mayor requested a report from the traffic DIG on the increasing number of traffic accidents in the city. He emphasised that all members of the Karachi Beautification Task Force would oversee cleanliness and beautification efforts in coordination with municipal bodies.
The committee also includes representatives from the DG Military Cantonment Board, Ismail Khodro, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Managing Director Tariq Nizamani, Local Government Special Secretary Ayesha Ameen, Karachi Additional IG Javed Alam Odho, Nazimabad Town Municipal Commissioner Zain Malik, Saddar Town Municipal Commissioner Noor Hassan Jokhio, Jinnah Town Municipal Commissioner Ilahi Bakhsh and other officials.
