FAISALABAD: Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt visited the Faisalabad CPO Office to support the victim, who was gang-raped during a robbery.
Hina Parvez Butt conveyed the CM’s message to the survivor, assuring her that the government was committed to delivering justice and bringing the perpetrators to account. She confirmed that the police had arrested two of the suspects, Ali Sher and Faisal, within hours, and efforts were under way to apprehend their accomplice soon. “The Punjab government will not tolerate any form of violence against women,” stated Hina Parvez Butt, adding that stringent measures would be taken to prevent such incidents. She emphasised that the government was taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and protection of women and children across the province.
Hina Parvez Butt also assured the victim of full legal assistance and support. Faisalabad CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar was also present during the visit.
Meanwhile, IGP Dr Usman Anwar visited the home of the gang-rape victim. He was accompanied by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisal Zeeshan Asghar and other senior police officers. During his visit, the IGP met the victim and her family, conveying the CM’s message of solidarity and assurance of justice. He reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to delivering swift justice and ensuring the strictest punishment for the perpetrators. The IGP emphasised that the police acted promptly, arresting the prime suspect within hours. He reiterated that under CM Maryam Nawaz’s vision, there was zero tolerance for crimes against women, including sexual violence, harassment and abuse. Meanwhile, the two accused arrested in the case were sent to jail on judicial remand.
