3,500 cops to perform duty as security plan for Eid finalised

PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police has finalised security plan to maintain law and order during Eidul-Fitr.

Over 3,500 police officers and personnel will perform duty in the city to maintain peace during the Eid. Leaves of all police personnel have been canceled.

Capital City Police Officer, Peshawar, Qasim Ali Khan and SSP, Operations, Masood Ahmed Bangash have directed all divisional SPs to ensure law and order and prevent aerial firing on the Chand raat.

They directed to launch an awareness campaign in collaboration with local scholars and other dignitaries of the area to ensure the prevention of aerial firing on chand raat.

On the Eid, patrolling by the rider squad and police patrol has been increased in the city while surveillance of all entry and exit routes of the city has also been tightened.

According to the plan, additional police personnel will be deployed in all important markets and highways of the city. Police personnel in plain clothes have also been deployed to keep a close eye on suspects and suspicious persons entering the city.

Also, additional police personnel have been deployed at all sensitive places and government buildings of the city. Female police personnel, horse riders and Special Branch officials have also been deployed in the inner city.

Police armored vehicles, special combat unit, BDU and sniffer dog teams will also be deployed to check suspicious activity in crowded places, bazaar, Eidgah and mosques. Eidgah will be swept by BDU teams before Eid prayers.

During the Eid holidays, strict instructions have been issued to put all the entertainment venues, important offices, markets and bus stands of the city, as well as all the entrance and exit routes of the city on high security alert.

Also, the people in posh townships and other areas have been asked to inform police in case of leaving for their hometowns so police can ensure security of their houses in the absence of families.
