KARACHI: Chief Commissioner of Regional Tax Office (RTO)-1 Dr Faheem Mohammad has said that PoS violations will not be tolerated and that actions against such breaches will be intensified.
He urged the trading community to fully comply with PoS regulations as RTO-1 continues its crackdown on violations.
According to an official statement, RTO-1 sealed a well-known lights and electrical accessories store in Karachi under its jurisdiction on MA Jinnah Road.
The action was taken under Rule 150ZEO of the Sales Tax Rules as invoices issued by the sealed store were not integrated with the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) PoS invoicing system.
Separately, during a ceremony on Friday, RTO-1 commended the enforcement squad for its role in apprehending two key suspects behind a multi-billion-rupee sales tax fraud. In recognition of their efforts, he distributed appreciation certificates among officials.
The arrests, made in March, targeted alleged fraudsters involved in tax evasion schemes worth Rs4.2 billion and Rs141 million, respectively. An ongoing investigation is expected to uncover further details about the scam.
“The enforcement squad has rendered an invaluable service to the nation,” Dr Faheem said. “Their determination in bringing these culprits to justice sets an example for all officials.”
Authorities said the suspects had evaded the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for over 18 months before their capture. The operation reflects the tax office’s continued crackdown on financial crimes and commitment to enforcing compliance.
