I am writing to express my deep concern about the increasing number of street dogs in Karachi, which has become a growing problem for both the animals and the residents. Unfortunately, stray dogs sometimes act aggressively, which creates a real risk for pedestrians and children. When the authorities intervene, the solution often involves inhumanely culling these animals, which only makes the situation worse. Not only does this add to their pain, but it also worsens the unhygienic conditions in the city and can contribute to the spread of diseases.
The need for a more humane and effective solution is clear. The authorities in Karachi must step in to provide shelters, food and medical care for these animals. Implementing sterilisation and vaccination programmes will also help manage the growing stray population. A compassionate, long-term solution is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of both the animals and the people of Karachi.
